In a high-stakes White House meeting on September 29, President Donald Trump unveiled a comprehensive 20-point peace proposal aimed at ending the nearly two-year Gaza war. Sina Azodi, Assistant Professor of Middle East Politics at George Washington University, called the proposal “a win for everybody,” noting that it offers a path to end hostilities, retrieve hostages, and potentially allow Palestinians to govern themselves in the future. However, Hamas has yet to formally respond, and skepticism remains over whether the group will accept terms that exclude it from Gaza’s future governance.
The plan has drawn cautious support from Arab and European leaders, while critics warn of its vague promises regarding Palestinian statehood and the lack of guarantees for Gaza’s civilian population.
